Minimum Qualifications for
Entry Level Police Officer
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Must be at least 20 years of age.
Must be of good moral character.
Must not have been convicted of a crime for which the punishment may
have been in excess of 2 yrs. imprisonment.
Must possess at least a High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Must possess a valid N.C. Drivers License.
Must be able to obtain probationary
certification prior to employment from the N.C. Criminal Justice
Training and Standards Commission. Graduate from State approved Basic
Law Enforcement Training.
Must be able to perform all of the
essential job functions of an inexperienced law enforcement officer.
Salary range for Police
Officer: $27,075 through $40,614
