What can you do to protect your property?
- Have good
working locks, preferably Deadbolt locks.
Good exterior lighting, illuminating all entrances.
- Have a
neighbor pick up your mail and newspapers when
you're out of town.
- Trim all
bushes and hedges around your property so the Police
can see it easily.
- Participate
in Operation I.D., mark your valuables.
- Participate
in your local Community Watch programs.

the City of Marion and would like your home checked by
the Marion Police Department while you are out of town
please call 828-652-3231.
- Where you
live; complete address and description of your home.
- When you
will be gone. The date and times of your departure
and expected time of arrival back.
- Emergency
phone numbers, so that we can contact you if needed.
- Let us know
if any lights will be left on and if some else will
be checking the property also: e.g. feeding animals,
watering plants.
- If you would
like someone else notified for you in case of
emergency, we'll need their name and number also.
